After an exceptionally busy 2024, Nicole Kidman has announced she will be taking a break for the remainder of 2025. During her appearance at the 2025 SXSW Film & TV Festival in Austin, Texas, Kidman reflected on her packed schedule from the previous year, stating, "I was much more out there last year; this year I have Holland, I have Nine Perfect Strangers, and then I'm off for the rest of the year."
In 2024, Kidman showcased her versatility by starring in three films and two television series:
Expats: A drama series exploring the vibrant lives of a group of expatriates.
A Family Affair: A romantic comedy that delves into unexpected relationships and family dynamics.
The Perfect Couple: A mystery series centered around a wedding that uncovers hidden secrets.
Spellbound: An animated musical where Kidman lent her voice to a pivotal character.
Babygirl: An erotic thriller where she portrayed a high-ranking CEO entangled in a complex narrative.
Additionally, she reprised her role in the second season of Lioness, further cementing her status as a dynamic actress.
Despite her current projects, including Holland and Nine Perfect Strangers, Kidman emphasized her intention to step back after their completion. This decision follows her recent accolade at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, where she received the international star award for her performance in Babygirl. In her acceptance speech, she paid an emotional tribute to her late mother, reflecting on the profound influence her parents had on her career.
Kidman's upcoming film, Holland, is set to premiere on Prime Video on March 27. In this mystery thriller, she portrays a teacher who, alongside a friend, investigates her husband's suspected double life, unraveling a twisted secret in a small Midwestern town.
This planned hiatus underscores Kidman's commitment to balancing her professional endeavors with personal well-being, allowing her time to recharge after a period of intense productivity.
